The brief for this project was to design a 650,000 sq. ft. tower which was structurally integrated into an existing two-story podium.  The gently curving façade and cylindrical corner chamfers lend an elegance to the form of the building, while interior lighting at the crown and in the vertical notch at the center of the building give it a strong night presence on the skyline.

The development of a strong corporate lobby and interior amenity space which connects to adjacent buildings was of importance to the client.  Due to zoning and existing structural requirements, the building needed to be set back from the street, necessitating a strong podium street presence.  A three-story clear glass main entry with skylights echoes the form of the building.

From the beginning of the project, I was tasked with the development and detailing of the exterior enclosure of the building and how it relates to the physical form.  Given the northern climate, snow and ice accumulation were of particular concern.  I was also instrumental in the development of the exterior lighting scheme for the building.  Through physical and computer modeling, curtain wall and lighting options were tested and evaluated. Numerous presentation materials were made for the client to use in a marketing effort, and a schematic design pricing set was developed and presented.
